So, I do know that I don't want to go in just normal clothes because that ruins the fun of it...but what am I going to do? Well...I have an idea! We watched the whole two episodes--and there are ONLY two, very much to my disappointment--of Legend of the Seeker. I am obsessed with Kalaha's white dress and I have a lot of old white sheets that I think I can make into her dress. I also have black leggings, and knee high black boots to pull off the look. I don't have her weapons, but I have curly hair with no bangs and I've parted it down the middle like she does and my sisters said I do look like her so...now all that is left is figuring out how to turn the sheets into something resembling her dress...only a whole lot more modest!
Here are a few pictures to show you what her dress looks like. When I get the costume done I will be sure to show it off on here! I think this will be one of my favorite things I've sewn in a while!
This is what her dress looks like from the front and back. |

Well, there you have a small collection. I hope that I'll be able to pull this off. I think it will be a fun costume, and not too hard to make either. I do have a sister who is my size so that'll help if she'll be willing to wear the dress as I do fine tuning and such. :) Can't wait to get this project going!
Read the other posts in this series (links open in this same window): Sneak Peek | Confessors White Dress, The Confessor's White Dress Post #2 | Adding The Sleeves, The Confessor's White Dress Post #3 | Adding The Hood, The Confessor's White Dress Post #4 | It's Done!!! I have a ton more to write about the making of this dress so as I write those posts I will be sure to link them up together at the bottom of each post so that they are all connected!
I think that is an awesome idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my friends blog, I put your button on my blog for you :)
Thanks! I thought it was too! :)
DeleteCool! Thanks!
Helen
I also never got your e-mail!
ReplyDeleteThat is odd. Hmm...well it just basically said that I was willing to trade add space and I just wondered how long you wanted to trade for?

I hope I don't sound rude by asking this (I'm new to AP!) but I thought Apostolic's didn't watch TV or celebrate Halloween??? Am I wrong? Could you please give a newbie some insight! Love you blog by the way!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Apostolic's don't watch TV. I was raised baptist though and this is a really, really hard habit for me to break. I don't know about Halloween though. That is something I am still trying to figure out. When I was growing up we would go to 'fall festivals' instead of trick or treating'.

Well, to answer your bbloes question it isn't all apostolics that don't watch tv. There are differences between standards of the pastor and the Bible. Many apostolic pastors preach against watching tv 'cuz most of the stuff is ridiculous. Halloween isn't just an apostolic thing. If you check it out, it started from paganism. Many celebrated holidays i.e Christmas, Easter have some ugly truths behind them. Of course, we don't deny the fact that Christ was born, was died, and resurrected but it doesn't matter what day it happened. It should be celebrated EVERYDAY! The history channel actually gave insight to Halloween. Check it out
ReplyDeleteI didn't think about the different pastors preaching different things, but that makes sense. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Cee!

It's not necessarily that the pastors preach differen't things. There are Biblical truths that can't be compromised/tampered with 'cuz it's the Bible-God's WORD. But there are standards of each individual church such as skirt lengths, sleeve lengths, no t.v, etc. It's not that one pastor is wrong. It's just that pastor has been convicted about certain things and that local assembly has it's standards to abide by.
DeleteEach of us have to work out our own salvation and as we search for truth (Christ), He will teach us what He requires from us as the body of Christ and us individually. For Halloween/scary movies, there are a lot of demonic spirits that are summoned. We take it casually b/c it's entertainment but we do have to keep in mind that just as there is an angelic host and God, there are demons and the devil working to destroy us. Thank God that He came that we might "have life and have it MORE abundantly". That's the beautiful thing about salvation-the Holy Ghost is a teacher. Sometimes, we don't see or realize things right away, but in our search for truth and wanting more of God, He reveals it to us through wise counsel and His Spirit. NONE of us are perfect and I am CHIEF of not being perfect/a mess. "All have sinned and come short of His glory". Christianity is a day to day PROCESS. Thank God He makes something beautiful out of a mess (ME)! :)
DeleteAbout pastors: right, I do realize that. That is really what I meant to say.

I have come to realize that I have to search out my own convictions as well. I have found that I cannot watch horror films. They really disturb me. Even scary films are too much for me sometimes. I really appreciate you sharing these things with me! :)
ReplyDeleteHelen
Cee, thank you for explaining that! I agree 100% with you! And Helen, girl, I'm right there with you on the horror films--they give me the willies!! I also struggle watching romantic (not raunchy) mushy movies bc they can create a false picture of what love and marriage is. Does that make sense?
ReplyDeleteThank you both for the good words of advice! And for showing naysayers that Apstolics (even those of us who are only Apostolic at heart bc of our circumstances-- my husband doesn't want to leave our current church :/)aren't legalistic! Blessings to you both!
I limit the amount of romantic comedies I watch as well exactly for that reason. You are very welcome! I am still learning and growing, but I truly do feel that I am on the right path for the first time in my life and that is what matters most to me!

Oh, and we decided as a family last year to not celebrate Halloween--way before my seeing the truth! I did see the History channels special and that is what opened my eyes and caused me to do some research!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! :)
