Blogging Tips | The Difference Between .JPG and .PNG

Today's tip is something that is a bit of a pet peeve of mine...seeing blurry photos when all that needed to be done is when they were saving the photo it should've been saved as {dot} png instead of {dot} jpg! It's really not that huge of a thing. It might take a little remembering but it's totally worth it if it makes your blogs photos look better. Let me show you an example of the difference between PNG and JPG so you know what I'm talking about:

BEFORE
If you can't see the blurred edges tilt your computer screen a bit and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Some images are worse than others, but usually everything saved wrong will have some fuzziness to it.

Okay I'm starting out with the blurry photo which should've been saved as {dot} PNG. The spot we're focusing on is the pink circle with the words in it. See the blurry area or fuzzy area around the words? That's one way you can know you should've saved it as a {dot} PNG instead of {dot} JPG. Another way you can know how to correctly save a photo is if you're using solid colors (see the pink circle?) on a photo then it should be saved as {dot} PNG. If you're saving a picture of something, say food or a landscape, it should be perfectly safe to save as {dot} JPG...AS LONG AS YOU DON'T ADD A SOLID COLOR BOX/CIRCLE TO THE IMAGE!!!

AFTER

This is what your photo should look like once it's saved correctly as {dot} PNG. Notice the nice crispness around the words? That's what we were aiming for.

Now you know the difference so you can now go and fix your photos to where they'll be crystal clear & with clean edges. It think it looks just beautiful when photos are saved correctly. What about you?

    1. I know if you're looking directly at it then it will seem like they're the same, but til back your computer screen and look at it from a different angle and you should see how blurred the one is and how clear the other is.

  2. I'm currently browsing about this jpg and png. At first, it doesn't look any different. But after examined it thoroughly, it does look different. Now, I know other benefit of using png beside its transparent background. Thank you for sharing. =)
