TGBTL #13: Why I Blog

I was on bloglovin this past weekend and saw a post on Life of a Sports Wife on Why She Blogs. It was a post for the link party The Girl Between The Lines. This week's prompt was: why do you blog? Tell us what got you started, what keeps you going, or where you want to go. I thought this would be a great post to write because it's been awhile since I've done one of these types of posts and things have changed since having a baby. I thought this would be the perfect way to share some new blogging goals!

Why do I blog?
I blog because it's fun! I love meeting other bloggers through comments, blog hops, link parties, and links on Pinterest. I don't have a really busy life since I am now a stay-at-home-mama and blogging gives me a way to write things down and share what I'm going through or thinking.

I love writing! I've always loved to write either in a journal, papers for school, or just for fun. Blogging is a great way for me to keep up my writing skills while sharing fun things with my readers.

What got me started?
My best friend (who is now a blogger too) Kora from Eclectic Darling shared a blog with me almost three years ago. That blog was and is still one of my favorites to read! A Beautiful Mess Blog is such an inspiring and fun blog to read. I've enjoyed their posts for going on three years now! Before I read their blog I didn't know anything about blogging, but once I saw how fun it looked I knew it was something I wanted to try. I started out slow, sharing recipes & refashion projects, and over the years I've grown into the blogger I am now.

What keeps me going?
I'd have to say that blogging really helps give me an outlet for the constant flow of craft ideas, foods, and projects I'm always working on. If you've been around here awhile you know I cover a little bit of everything. I love writing & sharing, crafting & creating, baking & cooking, and so much more. Getting responses from readers on the posts they like really helps me know what to write more of and what to write less of as in keeping readers interested. Of course I write for myself, but if there's a topic (or in this case, topics!) that readers enjoy and I enjoy then I tend to focus more on those.

Where do you want to go?
I'm pretty happy with where my blog is at now. I reached my goal in most of my blog design (though there are still some pages that need work, but it's difficult to get that finished up with limited internet access), I have a great many regular readers, and I am able to share anything I want on here which is what I love!

With being a new mama I do know that there will be a whole new area of blogging that I haven't done before: mama & baby posts! This is a completely new experience for me and one I'm very much looking forward to sharing with you all as well.

My favorite blog series I have going on right now is Cooking For 2, and trust me I have lots more coming in that department! (Due to recent camera problems though I have no pictures for the foods I had planned to share this month so bare with me as I remake those foods and take new photos which will hopefully work the second time around!)

We recently bought our own house and moved to the country (I say recently, but it's been over six months now! My how time flies!). I have been slowly working on putting together ideas for what I want to do to update, redo, and decorate our new home. I started work on Little Mans room this past fall and still it's not completely done! We are getting ready to take on the master bedroom and bathroom and I cannot wait to share that project with you as it unfolds!

I have a huge sewing/crafting room now and once the basement warms up (which is where that room is located) I plan to start sewing and crafting more regularly. It's much too cold down there for Little Man so I've been grabbing up small projects and working on them when he's napping during the day. I've been taking photos of the projects and eventually I'll share them as well!

Right now my blogging goal is one scheduled post a week. I missed that in February because my laptop crashed and I had just had a baby (I write posts usually a month before they come out, so baby was born in Jan and I didn't write posts in Jan). I'm starting to get back in the swing of things. I had a lot of posts ready to share this month when my photos decided to glitch up {read about that here}. That was quite aggravating. I have a few guest bloggers this month though so that worked out good in the end.

End
Because we live in the country now and don't have internet it's difficult to find time to schedule posts. I do most of the writing and photo editing at home and then when I am online I finish editing the photos and put the posts together and schedule them. {Read: How To Blog Without Daily Internet Access.} Blogging is so much fun for me and I love writing the posts so I really don't mind the extra steps...most of the time! It would be so much easier to write if I had internet, but there's not anything that's great service & affordable. Eventually I hope we'll be able to have internet at home, but for now I'll keep doin' what I'm doin'!

Well that's what I've got for now! This was such a fun post to write! I love sharing about myself and blogging. I think this is a link party I will try to join in on as I can!! I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I did writing it!
